Legendary businesses such as Hudson’s Bay Company and the North West Company routinely stocked this kit and it remained a very popular trade item during the period. The NRAstore™ has reintroduced this firestarting kit simply because flint and steel work – wet or dry – forever. Today’s matches and lighters can get wet, damaged or run out of fluid. But a survival basic like starting a fire is not something to leave to chance. Our solid brass box contains all you need to start a fire including: sharp English flint shard, small high carbon steel, char cloth, several 2” pieces of jute, high powered magnifying lens, and easy to follow instructions. When sunny, remember the good ole’ days and use the magnifying lens to build your fire. For all other conditions, use the flint shard and steel. We’ve stamped the NRA logo on to the brass lens cap.
